London, (JW) – The London court of appeals on Thursday rejected an appeal by the pro-separatist NGO “WSC” against an earlier decision by the Administrative Court, and rejected a request to reconsider the Association Agreement between Morocco and the UK.
According to several media sources, the third setback since last December regarding enemies of Morocco’s territorial integrity has confirmed the legitimacy of the association agreement linking the two countries, which benefits the population and development of all the kingdom’s territories, from north to south.
According to several Moroccan and British analysts, the court’s decision also highlights the repeated failures of the real instigator of the Moroccan Saharan conflict, who despite malicious intent failed in his attempts to persuade the British judiciary to re-examine the decisions of the post-Brexit trade agreement concluded and endorsed by the two kingdoms. Indeed, trade between the two countries has steadily grown since the agreement was signed, with bilateral flows reaching £2.9 billion in Q3 2022, up £1 billion over the same period last year.
The Association Agreement between Morocco and the UK signed in London on 26 October 2019 has entered into force since 1 January 2021. It restores in the context of bilateral relations all the effects that the two countries have on each other, within the framework of the Morocco-EU Association Agreement.
Thus ensuring the continuity of trade between Morocco and the UK after 31 December 2020. Enabling the two kingdoms to build a long-term, structured partnership, with operational and institutionalized cooperation instruments, and driven by shared ambitions. The agreement is a guarantee for Moroccan and British companies conducting economic and commercial relations in all sectors of cooperation.
The decision given in first instance by the UK High Court on 5 December 2022 rejecting WSCUK’s claim against the Moroccan-British Association Agreement marks the 3rd setback on the judicial front for polisario militias. Morocco is satisfied that the Court has acknowledged that the “polisario” has absolutely no opinion regarding the economic development of the southern province.
The trade relations between Morocco and England concerned only these two parties. With this judgment, the polisario militia is brought back to its original dimension. It cannot claim or represent the population of the Sahara.
